Anweisungen:

  1. Wash, peel and dice the potato into small even pieces.
  2. Place the potato pieces in a small saucepan and cover with fresh water (just enough to cover). Bring to a gentle boil and simmer until very soft, about 12–15 minutes.
  3. While the potato cooks, check the tilapia fillet carefully for any bones and remove them with tweezers or the tip of a knife. Cut the fillet into small pieces.
  4. When the potato has softened, add the tilapia pieces to the saucepan on top of the potato and cover. Steam/gently simmer together for 6–8 minutes until the fish is fully cooked and flakes easily (internal temperature should reach 63°C if you measure).
  5. Turn off the heat and reserve 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) of the cooking water. Transfer the potato and tilapia to a bowl or blender jar.
  6. Using a blender, food processor or hand masher, puree the potato and tilapia until smooth, adding reserved cooking water a little at a time to reach a consistency appropriate for your baby (thinner for younger babies, thicker for older babies). Ensure there are no lumps and the texture is smooth and easy to swallow.
  7. Let the puree cool to lukewarm (test a small amount on the inside of your wrist) before offering to the baby.
  8. Feed with a small spoon, offering small spoonfuls and watching closely for any signs of choking or allergic reaction.
Summary

A simple, single-ingredient (per item) potato and tilapia puree suitable as a dinner-style puree for babies aged 4–10 months (introduce solids according to your pediatrician’s advice). No salt or seasonings are added; the texture can be thinned with reserved cooking water to suit the baby’s age and ability.

Storing

Cool quickly and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. For longer storage, portion into ice cube trays and freeze; frozen portions are best used within 1 month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat thoroughly until steaming, then cool to a safe feeding temperature. Do not refreeze once thawed.

Allergies

Fish (tilapia) is a common allergen. Introduce fish according to your pediatrician’s guidance and watch closely for any reaction when first served. Do not add any other ingredients or nuts. Always ensure fish is boneless to prevent choking.

Side effects

Possible side effects include allergic reactions (hives, swelling, vomiting, difficulty breathing). If any sign of allergic reaction or severe vomiting/diarrhea occurs, stop feeding and seek medical help immediately. Also supervise the baby while eating to prevent choking.
